49th Anniversary of ‘The Immaculate Reception’

Mayor Bill Peduto awarded former Steelers running back Franco Harris the Key to the City of Pittsburgh yesterday.

He’s a hero to everyone in the city of Pittsburgh that needs a little bit of help, and for how he exemplifies everything that’s good about Pittsburgh.

I was in attendance to video the 40 year dedication ceremony of the Immaculate Reception monument on the North Shore, in the exact spot where “the greatest moment in NFL history occurred.” Other players present were Rocky Bleier, Andy Russell, Joe Greene, LC Greenwood, Mike Wagner and Oakland Raider Phil Villapiano:

After the dedication ceremony, players Frenchy Fuqua, L.C. Greenwood, Jon Kolb, Gerry Mullins and Phil Villapiano shared their memories of The Immaculate Reception at Stage AE, including the lady who came up with the term “Immaculate Reception.”

I was fortunate to become a Steelers fan in the early 70’s just in time for an exciting run that brought with it 4 Super Bowl victories in the short span of 6 years!
