Solar & EV Update

SOLAR ENERGY PRODUCTION:
During the month of April, with our share of clouds and precipitation just south of Pittsburgh, PA, our rooftop solar panel system (8.97 kW) produced 894.5 kWh of energy.

SOLAR PRODUCTION EXCEEDED USAGE:
During the same month, our home electricity usage and electric car charging (for 940 miles of driving) totaled 826.5 kWh, so our solar energy production exceeded our home and EV usage by 68 kWh.

CHEVY BOLT EV STATISTICS:
April 7th report from MyChevy for our Bolt:

  • Electric Economy: 29 kWh per 100 miles
(Lifetime economy is even better = 3.4 KWh per 100 miles)
  • MPG Electric: 118 MPGe
  • Miles this Report: 310 miles
  • Estimated gallons of fuel saved: 13 gallons
  • Estimated CO2 Avoided: 262 lbs
13 gallons of regular gasoline @ $4.19/gallon = $54.47
