Electric Vehicle Savings by the Hundreds

Looking at the latest monthly report from GM on our BOLT EV, we see that it saved us $122 to $290 on fuel over the past 30 days, depending on the comparison… and that’s not counting the free energy from the sun that our solar panels contributed!

GM COMPARISON:
$4.419 area average cost per gallon of regular
37 gallons equivalent

$163.50 if that had been ‘regular’ gasoline

$0.10 per kWh average from our electric utility
211.5 kWh used

$21.15 electricity cost entirely from the grid

$142.35 savings for the month

2nd COMPARISON – Compared to our VW Jetta that averages 26 miles per gallon:
$143.79 fueled with regular gasoline
$21.15 electricity cost entirely from our grid

$122.64 savings for the month

3rd COMPARISON – Compared to the 2500 Silverado pickup truck (12 mpg) driven 10 years ago:
$311.54 fueled with regular gasoline
$21.15 electricity cost entirely from our grid

$290.39 savings for the month
