PA DEP Public Notices – Oil and Gas Industrial Facilities

The following DEP notices were published in the October 8 PA Bulletin related to oil and gas industrial facilities.  Many of the notices offer the opportunity for public comments.

Note: Land Recycling/Brownfield cleanups include a Callon (Marcellus) LLL Yarasavage 1H well pad in Washington Twp., Wyoming County where DEP said the company lost control of a natural gas well causing a fire at the compressor unit and spilling an estimated 800 gallons of drilling wastewater.  DEP sent the company a technical deficiency letter on their final cleanup report  [DEP eFACTS facility ID 762556]

The list also includes three Risk Assessments submitted by ARG Refinery in Bradford, McKean County.

— Callon (Marcellus) LLC – Yarasavage Well Pad in Washington Twp., Wyoming County DEP issued technical deficiency letter on Final Report on remediation of soil and groundwater contaminated with frac flowback fluid (drilling wastewater) contaminated with aluminum, barium, boron, chloride, iron, lithium, manganese, selenium, vanadium, zinc and other compounds that were released as the result when a driller lost control of a natural gas well.  (PA Bulletin, page 6412)

— EQT Corporation – Lumber Well Pad in Springhill Twp., Greene County DEP approved Final Report on remediation of soil contaminated with aluminum, barium, boron, iron, lithium, manganese, selenium, strontium, vanadium, and zinc (PA Bulletin, page 6413)
