South of Pittsburgh we're beginning to see bright yellow Forsythia blossoms. That's a very welcome sign of Spring while also being a lawn care "TO-DO-LIST" reminder.
Why is that you ask?
Because crabgrass germinates at the same time Forsythia blossoms drop-off, and it is important to have crabgrass control in place, and watered-in, ahead of that blossom drop.
Keep in mind that some crabgrass controls (also known as pre-emergent herbicides) will restrict the growth of grass seed as well as crabgrass, so be sure to follow label directions for any product you apply!
