Heavenly fragrances mingle

Combining 2 heavenly fragrances in Spring

Some of my favorite ornamental trees are in the Magnolia family; namely the Star Magnolia (Star of the Show) and the exquisitely fragrant Saucer Magnolia (Spring Soul).

The Saucer Magnolia growing beside our house is a 'Jane' Magnolia.

Within the shrub realm is a very ordinary looking shrub commonly called the "Korean Spice Bush." The variety we have growing right next to our 'Jane' Magnolia is a 'Carlesii' Viburnum.

Beyond being a very ordinary looking shrub, it is deer-proof and blooms with a magnificent sweet gingery fragrance that is super-enticing!

As a bonus, when these two plants bloom at the same time each Spring the combined fragrance is truly amazing and something I look forward to every year!
