Penn State Master Gardeners are volunteers who are trained by Penn State Extension, and support educational programs in consumer horticulture. Master Gardeners volunteer with service agencies and community groups on a wide host of educational gardening projects, create demonstration gardens, introduce plant science to children, answer gardening questions, and write articles and fact sheets.

The fee for the 2018-19 Master Gardener training for Washington County is $200, which includes a comprehensive training manual. Those interested are asked to call the Washington County Extension office at 724-228-6881. Applications for the program will be mailed out in July.
