Our Pittsburgh area has always received a decent amount of rainfall, so when we got an extra 20-inches of rain last year, it was an extra wet year! While that sort of weather was especially tough on those who work outdoors, the trees and shrubs really loved it!
Not sure that I’ve ever seen the Dogwood trees with more blossoms, and the Silver Maples are absolutely loaded with ‘samaras’ — those winged ‘helicopters’ that travel great distances when released from tall Maples.
All it takes is a slight breeze to have these helicopters flying everywhere, and unfortunately, a large percentage of them germinate and become small trees before you know it. They are difficult to weed out of your landscape beds once they become well-rooted.
