Rainfall record falls

After a “soaking wet” spring and early summer around Pittsburgh, things got hot and dry in August.

However, September started off with a “gully washer” that broke a 107-year record, with 3.38-inches of rain, more than double the old record from 1912.

This record breaking storm brought Pittsburgh’s precipitation total for 2019 to 38.21 inches, topping the average of 38.19 inches.

During heavy rains like Sunday’s, you’re thankful you hadn’t just seeded a new lawn!
